Interested in Auditioning?
At StagePlay, we are always looking for new talent. We recognize that the pool of professional English-speaking actors in Japan is scarce, and we value and consider every applicant. We seek actors with professional acting training or equivalent professional experience. All our Shakespeare productions are paid, professional jobs, and we are looking for dedicated performers who can deliver with professionalism. Feel free to contact us at any time of the year, and we will consider the talent pool in Tokyo when planning our next show.

Headshots: We accept both UK/US-style professional headshots and Japan-style composite cards (5 pictures, do not need to be professionally taken).
We are currently not auditioning for any performances. While we may not be able to respond to submissions at this time, all materials will be kept on file and considered for future productions.
Theater Professionals: Designers & Technicians
StagePlay is also seeking professional set designers, costume designers, and lighting technicians to collaborate on our productions. If you have experience in these areas and are passionate about theater, we encourage you to apply. English fluency is not required, although conversational-level English is preferred.

Volunteers and Interns
If you do not have professional experience or the time to fully commit to the show but still want to be involved, we welcome volunteers for a variety of positions, including ticket sales, ushering, backstage stagehands, interpreters, as well as directing and production assistants. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and contribute to bringing Shakespeare to audiences across Japan.
